HUI MIN: Taiwan Day 2- 29th December 2013

So here goes, Taiwan Day 2! Day 2 was pretty slack and we didn't go to so many places! Still in Taichung (: Went around Lukang.

First stop: Lukang Longshan Temple

Forgot to switch my camera's memory card so I didn't get photos in my camera, only some in my phone and luckily my cousin tagged me in some!

So this picture is actually pointing to this narrow pathway below! Pretty narrow as you can tell from the pic with me inside.

Was really tired in the morning so please don't judge my face T-T

ONE OF THE BEST FOOD IN TAIWAN. Oyster Mee Sua. Which is basically smth like oyster noodles? Tastes like shark's fins soup heh. Okay I love sharks fin soup but because sharks are gonna be extinct and stuff so I don't consume shark's fin soup alr.. And even on a regular basis I don't. Only eat it in chinese weddings and such. But I think some hotels in Singapore have alr stopped using that as a dish in the chinese dinner menu. Conserve 'em sharks!

Then we headed to the streets to walk around, just to explore. And bought some souvenirs like pouches? There's nothing much to shop but this place is very old, somehow I like to look at all these historical spots and observe the architecture? I find it pretty cool. So basically as you can tell from the bottom pics, these old houses/shophouses are converted into shops. However the old interior still remains.

Second stop: Lukang old street

These are not ordinary plants! Haha like the previous post(Taiwan Day 1) if you read, these are food. Except that they're not ice cream, these are cakes! The plant is a deception and choco powder/crushed oreo is used for the "soil".

Freaking ginormous eggs. Tastes pretty normal tho.

Third stop: Glass temple

Googled and found this:

In order to do trade business or fish, the ancestors of Lukang had to cross Taiwan Strait (台灣海峽) from Mainland China. It's not a easy job in that time due to immature seamanship. The early residents believed they were protected by Mazu (Heavenly Holy Mother). Once they became rich, they would build a temple to worship Mazu. That's why there are so many Mazu Temples around Lukang. Now, there is even a Mazu temple, Glass Temple, is made of glasses, and it's the one and the only in the world*. Except pillars, most of the structure is transparant, such as doornail, door gods, Mazu statue, offerings, wall, and roof. It is more stunning at night when the lights are on.

This temple is really beautiful, both on the interior and exterior design!

Fourth stop: Taiwan Glass Gallery

This glass gallery was right beside the glass temple and I was so amazed by their artworks made of glass. There were even introductions to different kinds of glass by opacity and toughness, so on.

Was standing on this whole stretch of transparent glass walk with sand below. In pictures it looks normal and fine but when you walk it in real life you feel really weird because its transparent!

This glass piano reminded me of linhui so I snapped a photo of it hahaha.

Was in this area of the gallery with all sorts of mirrors!

Moving on to this! I don't know what is the actual name for this kind of art but its really cool because that tiny stretch of sand is actually moving downwards. And yeah some parts of the "picture" or sand actually moves/flows.

Fifth stop: Wuqi fish market

So because this is near a port, everything here is fresh. So good. And in this canteen beside, they have many restaurants/eateries specially for seafood! So you can actually buy your seafood here, go over to the restaurant at the canteen and get it cooked and eat it with other ingredients (: Oh, you can also buy dried seafood here or others that are fresh and can be eaten on the spot!

So we actually had our dinner in one of the restaurants in the canteen beside! Taiwan's culture and food is quite a whole new experience for me as they have a different cooking style + they eat diff parts of animals ._. So.. Some food were still okay and really okay but some are just yucky! Sorry to say that :/
